As an ex-floor trader from the CBOT (Chicago Board of Trade), besides enjoying the obvious money I earned as a Floor Trader some of the greatest memory’s I have was the everyday camaraderie. The laughing, the joking and fart’in around.
Of course, when the 30 year bond market market was moving it was every man and women for themselves. Rarely did the markets move all day and being in such close quarters you really got to know a lot about the people around you. Yes, the good, the bad and the ugly.
My first couple years off the floor I found day trading to be a very lonely business. I tried a several trading chat rooms and found most to be cold, unsupportive and boring. At times, I actually thought the silence was better.
I then found The Trading Zone.
Besides enjoying the obvious money I earn, the everyday friendship is truly something special. Unlike the trading on the floor of the CBOT 30 year bond pit, when the market is moving Trading Zone members are actually looking out for each other.
If a trade on the E-mini SP 500 the Eurostoxx 50 (FESX), or any other market we trade is setting up, the trading chat room lights up with information. Or if the environment to trade is not good (as in the No Trade Zone), fellow Trading Zone members will keep you out of trouble. The chat room truly lights up with The Trading Zone information or IM’s (instant messages) start traveling around the world at the speed of light. To a non member this may sound a bit humorous but our TTZ (TheTradingZone) members know it to be true.
One the greatest advantages of trading the futures in The Trading Zone chat room is that it’s not every man or women for themselves. Camaraderie has taken on a new meaning for me. It’s not just about being able to laugh and joke with the people you work with. It’s so much more. It’s teaching, learning, being supportive and of course laughing, joking and….
